From the Washington Post’s “The Sunday Fix” column penned by Chris Cillizza and Shailagh Murray:
“It’s no secret that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee (R) were the big winners in Thursday’s Iowa caucuses. But, here at The Fix, we like to look for the winners behind the winners – and, more fascinating, the losers.”
In addition to former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle, Huckabee top surrogate Chuck Norris and the Iowa Democratic Party, the Fix recognized The Concept Works’ Eric Woolson.
“Woolson ran Huckabee’s Iowa operation with a spirit and verve that fit the insurgent nature of his candidate. Against the far better financed and organized grass-roots effort of former governor Mitt Romney (Mass.), Woolson effectively harnessed the energy around his candidate and turned it into votes.”
The Post’s list of losers was headed by former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack, who supported Hillary Clinton’s campaign very early, gambled and lost.
