Eric Woolson, President/CEO
Eric Woolson has been a leader in the fields of journalism, politics and public relations in Iowa for three decades. He provides public and government relations, crisis management and marketing counsel to a number of corporate, nonprofit, political and individual clients.
He has served as a communications adviser to six presidential candidates – Joe Biden, George W. Bush, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, Michele Bachmann and Scott Walker – as well as U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley, Gov. Terry Branstad and a number of candidates at the local, county, state and federal levels. His experience includes managing former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s surprising victory in the 2008 Iowa caucuses.
As a member of the Iowa press corps during 20 years before embarking on a public relations career, he continues to enjoy a strong reputation for honesty, hard work and goodwill among the state’s print and electronic reporters.
Eric is known for bringing enthusiasm, exemplary problem-solving skills and a can-do spirit to his work, particularly under deadline pressure.
He founded The Concept Works in 2002.
Rachel Link, Account Manager
Rachel joined The Concept Works in May 2014. Her duties include public relations, event planning, marketing and day-to-day account management for a variety of clients, including Natural Soy Products, Back2Balance, state Rep. Terry Baxter, Polk County Supervisor Bob Brownell, West Des Moines Mayor Steve Gaer and the Heart of Iowa Market Place and SmartClean.
Her favorite quote comes from Bill Gates, who said, “If I was down to my last dollar, I would spend it on public relations.”
Rachel graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication.
Becky Dirks, Senior Account Executive
Becky Dirks joined The Concept Works in September 2016. She has an extensive background in fundraising, event planning, marketing, public relations and social media campaigns.
Based in the Cedar Valley, she helps to broaden the physical reach of The Concept Works. Her high energy and enthusiasm are well known by her co-workers and clients alike. Becky is eager to help your company create strategies to not only achieve your goals but go beyond.
Becky earned her bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in writing from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
About Chris Ludlow, Of Counsel
Chris Ludlow has 21 years of experience producing broadcast television programs, including stints at WHO-TV as assignment manager and news producer.
During nearly 12 years at KCCI-TV, Chris was morning executive producer for six years, noon news producer another six years and also produced the KCCI-8 News Close-Up for two years. He is a two-time Iowa Broadcast News Association Award winner and a member of a KCCI-TV sports broadcast team nominated for two mid-market Emmys nominations.
He is also a former press secretary for then-Iowa Secretary of State Chet Culver.
